Tell us about your background!
I’m self-taught from the start and it all started after a long and exhausting period when I lived in Barcelona. Painting become a new hobby for me, it was very healing and getting compliments for my art from people around me was – and still is – a great honour. One thing lead to another and I ended up starting a business based on my art.
What’s the story behind your brand?
The art is what comes first for me, all my patterns are originally from paintings. I love working with my hands, getting into my flow and just let the brushes do its magic.
Lately, I’ve started to develop a new style on my paintings, less strict and graphical compared to my earlier work. I want my paintings and design objects to have a balance and a connection, and the main theme is always black and white. Sometimes I add a splash of colour, but not very often!
What inspires you to create?
I find my inspiration in nature. I love all the sculptural structures in trees and branches, and in architecture. When I’m at the canvas, creating, I never have a ready pattern to produce, I just let the brushes and my emotions do the work.
What made you decide to start your own company, and what do you like most about it?
After doing a few exhibitions, my customers started to ask for my patterns on other things than just a canvas to hang on the wall. That lead to a small collection of cushion covers, and I’ve continued to develop ever since.
The best part of my job is that I get to be creative and get to express my feelings, and at the same time get to challenge myself. That is really my drive and passion.
What are your plans and dreams for the future?
I always want to develop and find new collaborations between different creatives. It is also a dream to evolve my artistry and to be able to have exhibitions around the world, and having my first opening in London this week is only the beginning. I want things to be fun and creative! My creativity is an important part of my life, and I love to paint and create new products!
