STOCKHOLM in our hearts
Yesterday, the sad news of the Stockholm attack reached us. As hard as it is to take in the news of any terrorattack, it is even harder when it hits close to home. Luckily, as far as we know, everyone we know and love are safe.
Now, about 24 hours after the attack, I can’t help feeling just a tiny bit happy despite of everything. The people of Stockholm opened their hearts and helped each other all through the afternoon and night, and the hashtag #openstockholm became a way for Stockholmers to reach out with a meal, a bed to sleep on or to offer a lift to get to your home (as all trains shut down, making it more or less impossible to travel through the city). It really proves that love always wins over hate, and that leaves me with hope for mankind. And as it turns out, even if we decided to leave the city two years ago, Stockholm will always have a special place in my heart.
